What mineral leaves a blue metallic streak, and looks like a blue metal, yet is soft enough to scratch...?
with a butter knife....
I received this mineral along with a lapidary saw and a pile of other minerals, yet this one is sooo unique, I would like to have it identified....
It could be a meterorite, or native to earth.... It is soft like Gold and and polishes to a shiny deep dark blue....and leaves a metallic blue streak....
Ok... any thoughts ?
It could be something as simple as azurite. Check out the list below for examples of blue minerals.
Just because a rock or mineral can be buffed to a shine does not mean it is metallic. I have been polishing rocks/minerals for years. If you are careful, you can even take a limestone or even a dried lump of clay and put a beautiful polish on it. I have several cabochons from fossilized limestone pieces I found laying around the shop.
